Book your tour!

You can register for our free walking tours up to 14 days in advance.

If your trip to Malmö is more than two weeks from today, please come back and check for tours within 14 days of your desired tour date.

Search for tours by clicking on the calendar, select your tour, then fill in your contact information and let us know how many people you are booking for (we have a limit of 8 per booking for our free tours, if you want to book for more than 8 people please contact us for info about private tours).

The meeting point

Our meeting point is the statue of Charles X Gustav on Stortorget in Malmö, just a short walk from the central train station “Malmö C”.

To identify your guide: Look for a folder with our logo and the person with the biggest smile holding it!

How does it work?

It’s easy – just register and show up at the meeting point for your tour at your booked date and time. We ask you to please register so that we know how many people to expect in our effort to keep the group size below 30 participants per guide.

Our tour lasts for roughly two hours (depending on guide, weather and group size) and is circular, we start on Stortorget and we end on the centrally located Lilla Torg. The walk is roughly 4,5km in a leisurely pace.

The tour operates according to the popular free tour concept – there is no fixed fee but we appreciate tips!

You don’t need to bring any booking confirmation, but make sure to wear comfortable shoes, have a water bottle – and if necessary an umbrella or sun screen with you.

We don’t enter any buildings along the way, the whole tour takes place outdoors. Everything is wheelchair and stroller accessible, although some parts have cobblestone streets.

What will you see?

Our tour covers the most important sights of the city  center. Sights may vary slightly depending on your guide and the accessibility but most tours will include:

  • Stortorget / Great Square
  • St. Peter’s Church
  • The Lion Pharmacy
  • Gustav Adolf’s Square
  • Old Graveyard
  • King’s Park
  • Castle Gardens
  • Malmöhus Castle
  • Gamla Väster / Old Town
  • Lilla Torg / Little Square

Jennifer was fabulous! Her English was perfect and she delivered the stories and history of Malmö clearly and interestingly for two hours. These free walking tours are excellent and a great way to get to know a city. What a wonderful concept that you can pay what you feel the tour is worth and what you can afford.

Our tour with Kristina was from my perspective a model walking tour. It was a pleasure. Kristina was very nice, smiling all the time, her energy was contagious. I've been to a lot of this sort of tours but only a few times did I have a guide who was able to share historic facts in such a breezy and interesting way. It seems that guiding just comes effortlessly to her.

Our guide was super informative and funny. You could tell that she was in love with Malmö by the way she talked of her city, which is what I like in a walking tour because it is contagious. I ended up loving Malmö as well and learning about its history was very interesting. She also recommended some great places to eat falafel and cinnamon buns, which I loved.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where does the tour start and end?

We meet by the statue of Charles X Gustav on Stortorget, and the tour ends on Lilla Torg.

DO I NEED TO PRINT THE CONFIRMATION?

No, you don’t need to bring a printed confirmation to the meeting point, let’s save some trees!

Do you have tours every day?

We update our schedule so that the tours are bookable 14 days in advance, so if you can’t find your desired date in the calendar, check back closer to your date of visit. If it isn’t in the calendar, we unfortunately don’t have a tour that day – sorry!

How much does it cost?

We operate according to the popular free tour concept, meaning there is no fixed price. You may tip your guide at the end of the tour, that’s all! Please note that your tip is the only income the guide gets. We are very grateful for your generosity.

How can I tip?

We happily accept tips in cash in any currency.

At the moment we can’t accept credit cards. Some of us have PayPal or Swish as well, just ask your guide.

how large are the groups?

It depends very much on the season and which day of the week you are attending, but we try to keep the group size at 30 maximum. We don’t have any minimum requirement – if one person comes to explore Malmö with us, we do the tour.

What should I wear?

We run the tours regardless of weather (if at all possible). Make sure to check the weather forecast and dress accordingly. We won’t go inside any buildings so be prepared to walk outside for two hours.

What language is the tour in?

Our free tour is currently only available in English.

We offer paid private tours in several other languages, including Swedish, German and Spanish. Email us for rates and booking.

Is Malmö a good day trip from Copenhagen?

Absolutely! Don’t miss the chance to visit another country while in Copenhagen. Malmö is only half an hour away and is easy to reach by train or bus, both going very frequently across the Öresund Bridge. Remember to bring your passport/ID card when crossing the border.

Can I bring my dog, cat or pet elephant?

Generally yes, as long as it is calm and friendly. We will ask you to please respect anybody that expresses discomfort around your pet and to keep a distance if necessary.
